Echeveria Esther
Echeveria 'Esther' – A Petite Beauty with Bold Magenta Accents
Echeveria 'Esther' is a stunning hybrid variety that makes up for its petite size with prolific clustering and richly hued foliage. Its thin, pointed leaves display a dusty blue tone enhanced by a thick layer of powdery farina. When grown under bright light, cool conditions, or with minimal watering, the leaf margins develop vibrant magenta accents, adding striking contrast and depth to this charming succulent.
Features and Care Tips:
- Vivid Colors: Dusty blue foliage with bright magenta edges when stressed by sun, cool weather, or infrequent watering.
- Prolific Growth: Quickly forms a mat of clustered rosettes, perfect for ground cover or container arrangements.
- Light Sensitivity: Bright, direct sunlight enhances the red margins, while filtered light may cause colors to fade.
- Low Maintenance: Thrives in porous, well-draining soil and requires thorough but infrequent watering.
Care Instructions:
- Provide bright sunlight to maintain intense coloration and compact growth.
- Use a gritty, well-draining soil mix in a pot with drainage holes to prevent overwatering.
- Allow soil to dry completely between waterings, avoiding moisture in the center of the rosettes.
- Protect from freezing temperatures during winter by moving indoors or to a sheltered area.
Pro Tip: For the boldest magenta margins, combine bright light exposure with occasional “stress” through cooler conditions or less frequent watering.
Echeveria 'Esther' is an excellent choice for adding color and texture to any succulent collection. Its compact size, prolific growth, and stunning hues make it a favorite for rock gardens, container displays, or sunny indoor spots.
