Crassula Streyi Pondo Cliff
Plant Highlight
Pondo Cliff Crassula (Crassula streyi) (Tölken): This captivating stemmed succulent features unique foliage and hails from subtropical regions of South Africa. Its broad, glossy green leaves are complemented by eye-catching fuchsia to maroon undersides, and they often exhibit a shiny surface with tiny dots known as hydathodes. This slow-growing plant is long-lived and makes an excellent addition to any indoor space, typically reaching heights of about 8 inches. It can sometimes sprawl and produce roots from its trailing stems.
Soft succulents like this one are not frost-tolerant, so if freezing temperatures are expected, they should be moved indoors to a sunny windowsill or placed under grow lights. They thrive in bright sunlight, require excellent drainage, and should be watered infrequently to avoid rot. Choose containers with drainage holes and use a well-draining cactus and succulent mix that contains 50% to 70% mineral grit, such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom, then allow the soil to dry completely before the next watering.
